When Whitley came to me and told me she was pregnant with a special little miracle baby, I knew that I wanted to give her the most deserving shower to welcome her into this next, extraordinary stage in her life – motherhood.
After years of thinking that motherhood would not be a possibility for her, she was surprised to learn that the was expecting a sweet baby girl in September!
What’s an event planner to do when planning a summer baby shower? After speaking with Whitley about her vision and expectations for her baby shower, I knew there was only one answer – Flamingos. Whitley and her mother had just returned from a vacation where they had admired the beauty of the bright pink bird and fell in love; I knew that this would have to be our theme!
I wanted the event to be fun, but elegant. I choose to incorporate varying tones of pinks as well as tropical banana leaf prints for the linens and incorporated mixed pinks and greenery for the floral designs at the center of the guest tables.
We chose to bring in pops of metallic by using gold accents throughout the design. My favorite piece in the room was by far this beautiful floral hoop that was perfect for the mommy-to-be and her guests to capture photos of the special day.
Guests were treated to a magnificent brunch spread that included stacks of mini pancakes, fruit, macaroons, and a doughnut tower – because who doesn’t love doughnuts?! A signature drink of mimosas was served as well as a sparkling juice for those that could not imbibe. All guests left with custom, monogrammed flamingo cookies to commemorate the day.
There were laughter and joy as all celebrated a wonderful new member of the family and her beautiful mother.
